My name is Kory, and I am currently pursuing my BFA in Interior Design at the College for Creative Studies (CCS) in Detroit, Michigan. Before my time at CCS, I attended Central Michigan University for a couple of years, beginning my journey as a designer. Transferring to CCS has allowed me to truly appreciate the creativity behind Interior Design, beyond just the technical aspects.
Growing up, I was constantly surrounded by home renovations within my family, which sparked my love for design at a young age. This passion became especially evident in my love for The Sims franchise—I hardly ever played the game itself but instead spent hours (sometimes 15+ on weekends and holidays) designing homes for my Sims. I meticulously considered what kind of “person” my Sim was and what they would enjoy in their space, much like working with a real client to bring their design vision to life. I love creating timeless spaces, but more than anything, I enjoy bringing someone’s vision to reality.
In addition to Interior Design, I dabble in ceramics. The art of ceramics has always fascinated me, and once I arrived at CCS, I was able to take classes in the Ceramics department—and let me say, I LOVE IT! Each class lasted around six hours, which may sound like a long time, but as an artist, it flies by. My goal as a designer is to merge my passions for both interior design and ceramics, creating custom pieces that add a unique, personal touch to my clients' homes—whether it's dinnerware or a simple ceramic artwork to enhance their space.
Just to share a little more about me:
- Family & friends are extremely important to me.
- I love playing video games in my spare time, whether solo or with friends.
- Sitting down with a good book on a rainy day is one of my favorite pastimes.
- I’m a big animal lover (I think I was meant to be a veterinarian in another universe!).
Lastly, I just want to say—thank you for being here and for taking the time to explore my work!
